Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Australia+ Accelerator!

We recently hosted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with our Global Head of Programs, Emma Earley, to share everything you need to know about the 2025 Remarkable Australia+ Accelerator.

If you're a founder innovating in disability, health, or ageing - based globally outside the US - this session recap has all the key info you need to decide if the Australia+ program is right for you. From what to expect during the 16-week experience to tips for submitting a strong application, we've got you sorted.

What We Covered in the AMA

The Remarkable Accelerator Mission

We believe that disability drives innovation. That’s why our 16-week program helps Disability Tech startups grow with the right combination of seed funding, expert coaching, access to mentors, feedback from the disability community, and tailored support to scale impactful businesses.

Australia+ Accelerator Key Dates

In the session, we highlighted some of the major milestones in the Australia+ Accelerator timeline. While this isn’t an exhaustive list, it outlines the key phases of the application process and how the program is structured across virtual and in-person components.

  • Applications close: Thursday, 15 May 2025
  • Interviews: 27 May – 4 June (online)
  • Offers sent: From 11 June
  • Program starts: 4 August 2025 (in-person)
  • Program End/Demo Day: Early December (in-person as part of the Remarkable Disability Tech Summit in Sydney)

The Value Of The Australia+ Accelerator

Startups selected into the Australia+ program will receive:

  • $100,000 AUD in seed funding (for 5% equity, with flexible terms if you've recently closed a priced round)
  • Weekly 1:1 coaching tailored to your needs
  • Access to a global network of mentors, peers, and disability experts
  • Bespoke programming to meet your exact goals
  • A community that’s genuinely committed to supporting your success
  • In-person opportunities in Sydney, plus travel support if you're outside Australia

The Difference between the Australia+ and US Accelerator

We run two separate Accelerator programs:

  • Australia+ Program is open to startups based globally, outside of the US
  • US Program is for startups registered and operating in the United States

Each year the programs will accept one cohort of startups, which will have access to the same tailored support offerings, but we adjust for different time zones (AEST for Australia+ and EST for the US program), seed funding details, and face-to-face events.

How to Create Your Best Application

Some helpful tips to keep in mind when submitting your application:

  • Use plain English – make it easy for judges to understand your Disability Tech startup and your impact
  • Be specific – clearly explain your target market and user base
  • Be honest – if there’s a gap in your business or experience, that’s okay! Tell us how you’re working on it
  • Keep it concise – focus on clarity over the length of your application answers

Pro tip: You can preview and download all Australia+ application questions in advance.

Questions from the AMA (and Our Answers!)

Do I need to be full-time on my startup?
Yes—at least one founder must be working on the startup full-time.

Can MedTech startups apply if they’re pre-revenue?
Yes! We understand the longer timelines for MedTech and hardware, and welcome early-stage applications in this space.

How much time does the program take each week?
Around 7 hours of virtual sessions, plus extra time during in-person events. Travel support is available for eligible founders.

Can solo founders apply?
Absolutely. Just show how you plan to meet key startup needs (e.g., contractors, co-founder plans, advisors).

What if our product is really simple?
That’s totally fine. Simple can be powerful—what matters most is the impact and scalability of your solution.

What kind of mentoring support is available?
You’ll receive 1:1 coaching, leadership development support, and access to global mentors tailored to your goals—from branding and legal to fundraising and product.
