All You Need to Know About the US Accelerator
Are you a US-based Disability Tech founder building innovating in disability, health or aging? This recap of our Ask Me Anything (AMA) session hosted by Molly Lazarus, Director of Remarkable US, covers everything you need to know about the 2025 US Accelerator program. From program structure and funding to application tips and FAQs, here's what came up in the session.
The Impact of the Remarkable US Accelerator
Three and a half years ago, Remarkable proudly partnered with CPA’s sister organisation in New York—the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation (CPARF)—to launch the US arm of the Remarkable Accelerator. Under the leadership of Molly Lazarus, the program continues to grow in impact and reach.
Some powerful highlights since launch include:
- 13 startups supported through the US Accelerator
- $49 million USD raised by US alumni
- 130,000+ people reached through inclusive products
- 32 patents secured by participating startups
- 25% of startup team members identify as disabled (with many more hired post-program)
From medtech and mobility to health, communication and education—our startups are making disability innovation mainstream.

Tips for Submitting Your Best Application

- Use simple and direct language – Clear, accessible language helps judges understand your work
- Be honest – Tell us where you’re at, even if you’re still solving problems. We value transparency
- Share your “why now” – Explain why this moment is the right time for your startup to grow
- Know your users and your impact – Be specific about the problem you’re solving and who benefits
- Preview the application – Download all questions ahead of time to plan and refine your answers
Questions and Answers from the AMA
“Do you support solo founders?”
Yes, just be clear on how you plan to manage all areas of your startup (e.g. outsourcing, hiring, finding a co-founder).
“Can nonprofits apply?”
Unfortunately, no. This program requires a for-profit structure so we can make an investment.
“Do I need to be incorporated before I apply?”
Not necessarily—but if you’re accepted, your startup must be registered as a US-based C Corp (usually Delaware).
“Do I need to have revenue?”
Some revenue helps—but it’s not required. We know progress looks different for medtech and other industries.
“Do I need to be full-time?”
At least one founder must be working on the startup full-time.
“Do you accept early-stage companies?”
Possibly! We sometimes accept pre-revenue companies if the tech is compelling. Our biggest question is: Will you gain value from the accelerator right now?
“Is there a preference for first-time vs. repeat founders?”
Nope. If you’re building something remarkable, we’re interested—whether it’s your first rodeo or your third.
“Is lived experience of disability valued?”
Absolutely. Founders with lived experience often bring unmatched insight. While it’s not required, it is very welcomed.
“Is the coaching tailored to our startup?”
Yes! You’ll work with a coach every week and be connected to mentors based on your startup’s needs—covering areas like fundraising, sales, hardware, and more.
