Remarkable’s mission is to develop tech and innovation for inclusion of people with disabilities.
Our Design-athon has been running since 2014 and is a 4 week challenge that invites budding entrepreneurs to solve problems identified by our community using an inclusive design methodology with the intent to see more products and services, in turn answering this very mission.
We allow teams to apply who have no less than 2 and no more than 6 members.
Remarkable Design-athon brings together designers, developers, creatives, entrepreneurs, students, people with disability, and disability service professionals to create inclusive solutions in a four-week event.
The Design-athon will be a complete online experience and will be accessible by anyone anywhere.
Each design-thinking week will start with a 2 hour workshop led by our design-thinking partner SprintBase. These sessions along with the accompanying documentation will give you all the information you need for each stage of the design process.
On top of this each team will be supported by a mentor who will guide you through the 4 week event and be on hand to answer your questions.
Finally you will also have access to individuals with lived experience. You will be able rely on this network to ask questions, request feedback or involve in user testing.
In just 4 weeks you will not only learn how inclusive design can change lives but you will also become familiar with design-thinking methodologies.
It’s recommended to allow 8 hours or more per week across the 4 week Design-athon. 2 hours of this will be contact time for masterclasses and the remaining time is for you and your fellow team members to allocate as you see fit.
We welcome participants from all around the world but unfortunately everyone must attend the main sessions to be able to participate in the event. The session will last no more than 2 hours and the rest of the time you spend on the project is up to your team to allocate as works best for you.
Applications will open in early 2023
This is an accessible environment where everyone is welcome and included.
