Our Design-athon has been running since 2014 and is a 4 week challenge that invites budding entrepreneurs to solve problems identified by our community using an inclusive design methodology with the intent to see more products and services, in turn answering this very mission.

We have designed the program and activities to be tackled in teams. If you are unable to build a team you can use the Design-athon team finder tool here to find other applicants looking for team mates.

Remarkable Design-athon brings together designers, developers, creatives, entrepreneurs, students, people with disability, and disability service professionals to create inclusive solutions in a four-week event.

The Design-athon will be a complete online experience and will be accessible by anyone anywhere.

Each design-thinking week a new design sprint will be released. Teams will work through the modules and have the option to attend virtual drop in sessions with mentors, user testers, problem statement champions and the Remarkable team.

These sessions along with the accompanying documentation will give you all the information you need for each stage of the design process.

In just 4 weeks you will not only learn how inclusive design can change lives but you will also become familiar with design-thinking methodologies.

Teams have a chance to win a share of the $10,000AUD prize pool, including prizes and potential cash funding to invest back into their solution at the end of the 4 week challenge. The winners will be selected by our judges after pitching in the final week of the Design-athon.

The winning teams will also secure themselves a place in the brand new Remarkable Launcher Program held later in 2023.

It’s recommended to allow 10 hours or more per week across the 4 week Design-athon. 2 hour of this will be optional contact time allocated to meet with mentors, the Remarkable team, user testers, problem statement champions and other Design-athon participants. The remaining time is for you and your fellow team members to allocate as you see fit.
