Clu uses AI and behavioural psychology to help overlooked, underutilised people identify their skills and discover the right jobs for them in employers who want to significantly improve candidate quality and experience across their hiring processes.
Disabled people are twice as likely to be un/underemployed as non-disabled people, with job seekers facing additional barriers at every stage of the process, often having to complete more actions to be considered for a significantly smaller pool of working opportunities.
Clu is an HR technology platform that helps employers close their skills gaps by unlocking the value of overlooked and underutilised talent referred to us by over 100 education, empowerment and employability Partners. Clu enables Employers to re-evaluate what it takes to do a job well and who is capable of doing it and build market-leading inclusive hiring processes. This way, they can confidently widen their gates without lowering the bar, significantly improving and derisking the employment outcomes of the communities we support.
Hi, I'm Cayelan, Clu’s Co-Founder & CTO, and this is my co-founder Joseph, who unfortunately couldn’t be here today. We're professional problem solvers, and we've built something very exciting. A TalentGPS to solve the £11T global skills crisis.
Meet Jenny. Jenny is an Analyst turned Programme Manager. She has 15 years’ experience in programme management and is highly skilled, but she had to take a three-year career gap whilst battling cancer. She is now in remission and ready to rejoin the job market. Yay, Jenny!
Anyone in the audience, would you like to interview Jenny for a project manager role? Tough! Because 90% of application management platforms would filter out Jenny's application. That's because they use keywords, consistency of career dates, and job titles to determine if someone is a good "match" for a job. Which is wild because none of these filters help you understand that. This means that around 750M+ good-quality applications, like Jenny's, are being unfairly declined every year. That's the same as the population of Europe.
Our research consistently shows that people don't understand what makes them good at jobs, so it's no wonder that the systems that have been built cannot understand this either. This chronic oversight means that 45% of the UK’s labour market is locked out of economic mobility. At the same time, this hiring approach continues to cost the average FTSE100 company £23M a month. The current understanding of Talent in these systems worked in a more binary and predictable working world, but they are now like an outdated map, in desperate need of a new GPS.
Ding! We proudly introduce you to Clu: the world's first "TalentGPS". Clu uses a proprietary AI to help employers understand what actually makes people good at jobs and bypass the typical roadblocks to hiring the right people. Clu can be implemented into any hiring process or product to improve its accuracy, inclusiveness, and ROI.
Clu is already producing up to 60% improvement in candidate quality, as well as making hiring processes more cost-efficient, data-rich, legally compliant, and significantly more equitable for our clients. Therefore, with Clu: Jenny’s unique skills are understood and valued, She’s not rejected because of her career break, She just gets the job she’d be great at because she has the skills to do it.
After two years of R&D, we launched Clu to market in March 2023. In phase 1, we focused on building relationships with a handful of enterprise clients. To date, we've grown ARR to £95K via b2b subscriptions and have just completed our first round of renewals, achieving NET retention of 214% and maintaining an average account health of 86%. Competing for customer attention in the HR-Tech market would be expensive and long.
So, in Phase 2, our focus is cutting the queue by integrating with the APIs and Tech Stacks of existing suppliers to our ideal buyers. We are uniquely placed to do this because Clu's AI can improve the quality and efficiency of their products at a significantly lower cost than a public LLM, like Chat GPT, in a significantly less risky way. So, instead of being another competitor in this busy and late-stage market, providers see us as a powerful ally that can improve their competitive advantage and margins.
Over the next three years, we will grow Clu by 50% direct sales and 50% resells via these white-label partnerships. This will allow us to activate new customers and territories much quicker. This, plus our infinite scalability, will enable us to reach profitability in two and half years.
To help us achieve these goals and execute phase 2 of our strategy, we are raising £500K to cover key team hires and marketing costs. Clu's pre-money valuation is £2.5M, we are 35% committed to the round, with two VCs confirmed already.
The entire skills conversation is anchored around what people don't have currently. We're changing that narrative by shining a light on every person's unique value, catalysing opportunities and creating the biggest economic mobility intervention of our time.
We are very excited about our future and look forward to hearing your questions about TalentGPS and how we can disrupt this tired £500B market together.
