User Feedback Community Terms and Conditions

The Remarkable User Feedback Community is administered by Cerebral Palsy Alliance (ABN 45 000 062 288).

These Terms and Conditions apply to everyone who registers to join the Remarkable User Feedback Community as a Community Member.

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before completing the Registration Form. All capitalised terms are defined in clause 1. 

Remarkable reserves the right to revise and update these Terms and Conditions at any time or if anything changes in how we manage the User Feedback Community. You should periodically review these Terms and Conditions. Your continued membership in the User Feedback Community is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.  

  1. Definitions

In these Terms & Conditions:

Carer means any individual who provides care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability;

Community Guidelines means a standard of behaviour expected on the Remarkable User Feedback Community to create a safe, trusted and valuable space;

Community Member or Member means a Person With Lived Experience of Disability who has registered to join the Remarkable User Feedback Community; 

Confidential Information means all business, financial, technical or other commercially sensitive information which is reasonably expected to be or explicitly declared to Community Members as confidential, non-public or proprietary information;

Family Member or Family means a spouse or domestic partner, parent, guardian, child or other relative;

Disability Tech Innovator or Innovators means a startup engaged in a Remarkable program or who have completed a Remarkable Program, and technology researchers or students connected through Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s affiliation with the University of Sydney;

Person With Lived Experience of Disability (PWLED) means a person with unique life experiences as a person with disability or a supporter, such as a Carer or Family Member of a person with disability;

Personal Information means any information or data that is subject to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including information collected in our Registration Form and as outlined in our Privacy Notice;

Privacy Notice means the notice designed to tell you what will happen to the information you provide through this website or through other forms of communication with Remarkable about the User Feedback Community;

Remarkable refers to the startup venture arm of Cerebral Palsy Alliance (ABN 45 000 062 288);

Remarkable Programs means programs managed or licensed by Remarkable and delivered to startups developing disability tech;

Reward means a gift provided to reward and acknowledge the user feedback provided by People With Lived Experience of Disability; 

User Feedback Opportunity or Opportunity means activities offered to provide feedback to Disability Tech Innovators such as surveys and interviews

User Feedback Community or Community means the community established and managed by Remarkable to connect People With Lived Experience of Disability with Disability Tech Innovators to share their lived experience and provide feedback; 

  1. Eligibility to join the User Feedback Community and participate in User Feedback Opportunities 

Our User Feedback Community and User Feedback Opportunities are primarily designed for:

  • People With Lived Experience of Disability and their supporters, including Carers and Family Members. We welcome people with a range of lived experience of disability and neurodiversity to join.
  • Adults - you must be over the age of 18 years to join our Community. If you are a parent or guardian of a child with a disability under 18 years of age, you are welcome to join.
  • Live in Australia - our initial launch of the Community is for people living in Australia. We plan to expand to other global locations in the future.

Remarkable reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any Community Member. Refer to section 7 of these Terms and Conditions for more information.

  1. User Feedback Opportunities 

You may be offered a range of online/virtual opportunities to participate and provide your feedback to Disability Tech Innovators including: 

  • Online surveys - these will be short questionnaires (5-15 minutes) sent via email that may cover topics such as your experience with disability, use of assistive technology, product interests and preferences, product usability etc.
  • Telephone surveys - these may be the same as online surveys but will be conducted by telephone at a time that suits you if this is your preference.
  • Phone or video conference user interviews - these are individual interviews where you will be asked about topics in more detail, and the interviewer will listen to your feedback and ask questions to learn more. Interviews may be for up to an hour in duration and take place via telephone or video conference (e.g. Zoom). 
  • Teleconference focus groups - these are group interviews with several People With Lived Experience of Disability that help to collect feedback from multiple people at once and can also support interaction between the group. Focus groups may be for up to an hour in duration and will usually take place via video conference (e.g. Zoom). 
  • Product review and User Feedback - you may be sent an online/digital product or physical product to review and asked to provide User Feedback on areas such as usability, accessibility, effectiveness and whether you would use or recommend the product. 

Process for receiving and participating in User Feedback Opportunities:

  • Remarkable will send User Feedback Opportunities via email from userfeedback@remarkable.org.
  • The email will include information about the Opportunity, including the time required, the due date and the Reward (if applicable). 
  • You can choose to opt in to participate in the Opportunity. If you do so, your Personal Information will be shared with the Disability Tech Innovator requesting User Feedback who will review your information and contact you if you are selected to participate.
  • Once you are connected with the Disability Tech Innovator, they will be responsible for managing their engagement with you, running the User Feedback Opportunity, and verifying your completion of the Opportunity. 

Expectations for Community Members participating in User Feedback Opportunities

There is never any obligation for you to opt in to accept any invitation to participate in User Feedback Opportunities.

The frequency of User Feedback Opportunities will vary depending on the needs of our network of Disability Tech Innovators. You may not be selected to participate in every opportunity that you would like to be involved in. Selection of participants is at the discretion of the Disability Tech Innovator who may choose people based on a range of characteristics to ensure they are seeking a diverse range of feedback. 

  1. Community Guidelines

Remarkable is committed to ensuring our User Feedback Community is a safe and inclusive space for people across every disability, as well as gender, race, ethnicity, religion, country of origin, and sexual orientation.

Your commitment to sharing your lived experience and honest and constructive feedback is essential to the development of products and services that meet the needs of people with disability.

To ensure our Community is a safe, trusted and valuable space, we expect Community Members to commit to aligning with our values and being:

  • Passionate:
    • To engage enthusiastically in User Feedback Opportunities and provide detailed and constructive feedback.
    • To share your passion for technology and its potential to improve lives for people with disability.
  • Respectful:
    • To always engage in a considerate and respectful manner with Disability Tech Innovators and with our Remarkable team.
    • To be respectful of Disability Tech Innovators’ time and complete User Feedback Opportunities within the timeframe requested. If you are unable to respond within the timeframe, notify them immediately.
  • Ethical: 
    • To provide accurate information when you register to join our Community and about your participation in User Feedback Opportunities.
    • To be honest, accountable and dependable when responding to, and engaging in, User Feedback Opportunities.
    • To maintain confidentiality and not share any Confidential Information about products and services without permission when this is specifically requested.   
  • Curious: 
    • To consider ways to improve the design and development of Disability Tech products and services.
  • Courageous: 
    • To share your feedback and opinions openly and honestly.
    • To report any behaviour from other Community Members or Disability Tech Innovators that is contrary to these values via email to userfeedback@remarkable.org.

We reserve the right to remove anyone from our Community who behaves in a way that is not aligned with our Community Guidelines.

  1. Rewards

Remarkable values the feedback of People With Lived Experience of Disability and recommends Community Members receive Rewards as a thank you to acknowledge their contributions. Remarkable also provides guidance to Innovators on the Rewards recommended for User Feedback Opportunities.

The Reward available will be outlined in the email with each User Feedback Opportunity. The amount of the Reward will align with the anticipated contribution and engagement required from Community Members. 

Community Members must complete the User Feedback Opportunity to receive the Reward. Completion of the User Feedback Opportunity will be verified by the Disability Tech Innovator. 

Rewards will usually be provided via a digital gift card. 

Rewarding People With Lived Experience of Disability for User Feedback is not mandatory in Australia, and is made at the discretion of Remarkable and is not legally required or expected.

Community Members should not expect a regular income from the User Feedback Community and are responsible for managing their own tax affairs.

You may update your Personal Information at any time, or request to withdraw your participation in the Community via email to userfeedback@remarkable.org.

We will delete your data after two (2) years if there have been no opportunities provided to or accepted by you. You will receive an email notification when this occurs.

  1. Verification

To ensure security, we may verify your identity using email checks to confirm the validity and existence of your email address. This helps prevent fraud and unauthorised access, safeguarding your information and our system. By using our services, you consent to these verification procedures.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
